At QSI International School of Zhuhai, our core mission is simple yet powerful: Success for All. A key part of making this mission a reality is our dedicated Student Support Team (SST), a collaborative group designed to identify needs early, provide targeted interventions, and create personalized pathways for student success.

We are committed to inclusive education, supporting a wide range of learners—including those with mild to moderate learning challenges or neurodiverse profiles—through accommodations, differentiated strategies, and a nurturing environment so every child can access the full curriculum and reach their potential.

How the SST Works: A Structured Three-Step Approach

The SST operates through a clear, proactive, and collaborative process aligned with QSI's philosophy of mastery learning and success for every student. When a teacher notices a student may benefit from additional support—whether in academics, behavior, or social-emotional areas—the process begins:

Step 1: Initial Observation Stage: Teachers carefully observe and document student performance, gathering evidence such as work samples, assessment data, behavior notes, and input from parents or the student. This stage focuses on understanding patterns and identifying specific areas where a student might need extra help.

Step 2: Intervention Stage: Once needs are identified, teachers implement targeted classroom interventions and try new strategies. These may include differentiated tasks, small-group instruction, visual supports, modified assignments, push-in assistance, or behavioral tools—all aimed at helping the student progress toward mastery right in the classroom.

Step 3: Learning Support Plan Stage: If further support is needed for long-term success, the student moves to a formal Learning Support Plan. Developed collaboratively by the SST, teachers, parents, and (when appropriate) the student, this plan outlines specific, measurable goals, accommodations, and regular progress monitoring (often tied to MAP testing).

Throughout all stages, the SST meets regularly to review progress, adjust plans, celebrate successes, and coordinate with teachers, parents, and external specialists if needed. Parents are valued partners—we keep lines of communication open with regular updates, meetings, and opportunities for your input to ensure support feels cohesive between home and school.

Meet the Student Support Team

Dr. Zachery Brooks — Team Lead and Director of Instruction.

As the leader of the SST, Dr. Brooks oversees the team's efforts while also guiding instructional practices across the school. His role ensures that support strategies align seamlessly with our mastery-based curriculum and commitment to individualized learning.

Ms. Gillian Lopez — Homeroom Teacher and Certified Special Education Specialist.

Bringing classroom experience and specialized certification in special education, Ms. Lopez offers practical insights into differentiated instruction and accommodations that help diverse learners succeed in everyday classroom settings.

Dr. Troy Snyder — School Director and Administrative Support.

In his leadership role, Dr. Snyder provides administrative backing to the team, ensuring resources, policies, and school-wide alignment support the SST's work effectively.

Ms. Arianne Campbell — Social-Emotional Counselor.

Ms. Campbell contributes essential expertise in social-emotional learning and behavioral support, helping the team address the whole child by offering insights into emotional well-being, behavior management, and strategies that foster positive relationships and self-regulation.

The team also benefits from regional support from Jeff Temple, who provides broader QSI network guidance and resources to enhance our local efforts.
